The clip is "deadstock," meaning it is unused. However, it has been stored in a military warehouse for many years. Some discoloration and slight rust may be present. To refresh the tarnished metal, consider a light sanding then a coat of sewing machine oil or a swipe of beeswax. We consider all these to be features of deadstock military products, and hope that you also appreciate them.
