Antique Art Deco Wooden Spool, 4"

Finely crafted spools made for the silk looms of Soirie Lyonnaise, France. These are antiques left over from a now diminished textile region that dates back to the 1500s. Wrap some special ribbon around it and add it to your collection of interesting textile items. I have one in my unofficial museum of haberdashery. :-)

Most likely made from Boxwood. They are polished smoothly, and although they are patinaed, the wood grain is clear and beautiful. It's quite unusual to find authentically vintage spools of this high quality.
