Pokeori Weaving

"Pokeori," a charming term from Japanese, blends 'poke' – hinting at something small, like a pocket – with 'ori,' meaning to fold or weave. This delightful word translates to 'pocket weaving' in English. It perfectly encapsulates the essence of these quaint weaving projects.

The products are eco friendly, too. The Asobi Ito threads are upcycled from the apparel industry, and the pokeori mini looms are made from 51% scallop shells. Incorporate your own scraps of fabric or thread into your weaving, too.

In recognition of the excellence, pokeori received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award at Japan Handmade of the Year 2024!
