In Japan, they are often stitched through both layers, and used as kitchen towels.

*Since it only has Japanese instructions, my trick is to simply read the instructions using Google Translate on my phone. It uses your camera to view the instructions and magically shows it on your screen in English - or whatever other language you prefer! Here's a tutorial on how to use it.
