Sashiko is a Japanese mending tradition that adds strength and beauty to clothing. Originating with northern Japanese farmers, it uses repeating geometric patterns to strengthen and extend the life of precious garments. With cloth being precious, they extended the life of their garments by layering stitches to reinforce and protect against harsh winters.

With this kit, you can embrace the spirit of sashiko to mend, embellish, or simply create.

Add intricate patterns to a jean jacket panel, the flap of a pocket, or the knees of your jeans. Alternatively, stitch designs onto cloth to embellish kitchen towels, bandanas, or other textiles.
