Hori Hori Trowel with Sheath
$39.50
Niwaki Hori Hori (Japanese Garden Trowel)
The hori hori is one of those tools that once you start using it, it changes how you work, for the better. It’s brilliant for planting bulbs, weeding, loosening compacted soil, opening root balls during transplanting, and even dividing clumps of anything you want to thin out.
The blade is thick and strong, and quite sharp. It doesn’t scoop as much dirt as a tradition trowel/scoop, but don’t we all just use our hands to quickly fill up pots anyway?
Comes with it’s own tough canvas sheath.
- 10 oz (all that capability and it’s still under a pound)
- Total length 12”
- Blade length 6-1/2"
- Blade is Carbon Steel
- Handle is Beech
- Made in Japan
This tool is made from carbon steel - which means it will in regular use, patina, and eventually rust if not cared for. Caring for it involves three things…
- Use the base of the blades, not the tips, for heavier cuts
- Do not cut wire, metal, stone, plastic or any other hard material
- Give it a quick wipe down after each use, followed by a smear of Camellia oil before you put it away (you can do this with every garden tool you own).
