Brooklyn Haberdashery Class: Intro to Boro-Inspired Stitching

  • Brooklyn Haberdashery Studio 99 E 32nd Street Brooklyn NY (map)

Join us for the first in what we hope is a long series of classes and workshops in our Brooklyn studio space!

Intro to Boro-Inspired Stitching:
Hand stitch a collage sampler using techniques inspired by boro textiles from Japan! Gain the skills for sashiko stitching and visible mending to use in your hand stitching repertoire. Use antique boro fabrics as the basis for inspiration, then practice basic stitches and demonstrate several mending and patching techniques. Students will be given the opportunity to use several different needles and threads, and to notice preferences for how tools interact with fabrics.
