Learn fundamental Japanese hand embroidery techniques while creating a pair of textured coasters with this intermediate-level sashiko kit.

This kit includes:

  • Pre-printed cotton cloth with washable disappearing ink 
  • Sashiko needle, sashiko thread
  • Sewing needle, threader,  sewing thread, cotton tape
  • Step-by-step instructions, written in *Japanese only, but with many detailed illustrations

What you'll need:

  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Sewing pins
  • Iron
  • Cotton swab 

By simply tracing over the printed design with needle and thread, you can produce two textured sashiko-style coasters. Connect with ancient Japanese stitchcraft as you hone your skills.

*This kit does not have english instructions yet. Here's how we work with our Japanese language projects. On our phone, we have an app called Google translate. This app will translate almost any language to English. With the app open, select the little icon for the camera, and it will use your phone's camera to look at any written thing, and in real time, it will show that thing as english - right there on your screen! It's very cool and actually kinda fun to use.
